De Niro walks out of Campbell film
Robert De Niro has walked from the shoot of Martin Campbell's forthcoming thriller Edge Of Darkness after less than a week, it has emerged.The legendary actor was due to play a clean-up agent in the film alongside Mel Gibson, for whom the project represents a return to acting However, it seems the Oscar-winning actor and Campbell may not have seen eye in the early stages of filming. A spokesman for De Niro told Variety: "Sometimes things don't work out; it's called creative differences." It is thought Campbell – who directed the hugely successful James Bond movie Casino Royale – will now shoot around De Niro's character until he can find a suitable replacement. Gibson has had considerable success behind the camera in the past few years, helming films such as The Passion Of The Christ and Apocalypto.
