De Niro walks out of Campbell film (September 05, 2008)

Robert De Niro has walked from the shoot of Martin Campbell's forthcoming thriller Edge Of Darkness after less than a week, it has emerged. The legendary actor was due to play a clean-up agent in the film alongside Mel Gibson, for whom the project represents a return to acting However, it seems the Oscar-winning actor and Campbell may not have seen eye in the early stages of filming. A spokesman for De Niro told Variety: "Sometimes things don't work out; it's called creative differences.

Del toro signs four-picture deal with Universal (September 04, 2008)

Guillermo del Toro has signed a four-picture deal which will see him helm films based on Frankenstein, Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Slaughterhouse Five, it has been confirmed. Universal Studios has developed the deal with the director – which also involves an adaptation of a novel entitled Drood - linking him to the company until 2017. However, work on the new ventures will not start until del Toro has completed work on The Hobbit films – which he has committed to for the next five years.
